Dear Abiding Sisters in Christ,
“The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands.”
-Proverbs 14:1
How do we build or tear down? One way is with our words: our words have the power to build up and the power to tear down. We can encourage, exhort, and speak life giving truth or we could discourage, complain, nag, gossip, and slander. Our words are very powerful, and here is what Jesus said about our words,
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45
So it’s not a matter of simply watching our words, it’s a matter of watching over our hearts. What are we thinking? What are we meditating on? If it is good and lovely things, then that is what will come out of our mouths. If we want to be wise women who build up our homes instead of tearing them down, then we need to have the goodness of the Word of God dwelling in our hearts and minds. This is the lens we must look at our circumstances through, on the good days, on the hard days, in the trials, in the joys. The Word of the Lord should be on our hearts. And isn’t this what we were commanded in Deuteronomy 6:6 And these words which I command you today shall be IN YOUR HEART. You shall teach them diligently to your children.
The Lord is telling us how to teach the words of God diligently to our children, the secret is that we ourselves have those words in our hearts. I long for more of this, and I bet you do too. This is a life-long pursuit of growing closer to the Lord and knowing Him more and more through the Scriptures. It’s a beautiful journey which will most certainly yield an abundant harvest for His Kingdom. As we plod along from day to day in our homemaking and mothering as unto the Lord, we must persevere in the Word of God and in prayer. We must abide in Christ so that we will bear fruit.
This is a little snippet of encouragement that I shared in my latest youtube video which is a full homeschool and music lesson day in the life video. Also in this video I’m answering some common questions I was asked in comments on topics such as: screen time, government schools, homeschool, teaching music, how I do my personal Bible time, and more! I’d love for you to watch and share with your friends!
I hope this letter and video are a blessing to you, and that you enjoy a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!
Abiding in Christ,
Stacey
